Hello everybody

I installed a R5C7 backend successully and also setup a R5C7 frontend only machine. All went fine and I was able to reboot this frontend only machine already several times without any problems.

Today I wanted to get my imon_pad lirc device up and running. I removed lirc (apt-get remove lirc), unpacked /usr/src/lirc-0.8.0pre4-pvr150.tar.bz2 and went to /usr/src/lirc-0.8.0pre4-pvr150. I setup and configured lirc according to iMON Plugin for LIRC. Running the irw tool showed me that my remote was working. Before focussing on the lircrc file I wanted to verify that lirc was starting up correctly in case of a reboot... so I did a shutdown -r now.

And that's where the problems began. During shutdown I got a system freeze. I waited some minutes before doing a hard power off. Since then I'm not able to boot up my machine anymore. I get such messages:

[...]
mount: device or resource busy
mount: device or resource busy
mount: device or resource busy
mount: device or resource busy
mount: device or resource busy
linuxrc: Out of file descriptors
kernel panic not syncing: attempting to kill init
[...]

I'm stuck here as I have no idea how to handle it. I googled around and found a lot of info for programmers how they should handle file descriptors but found nothing helpful for how to handle such cases when they really happen.

I'm able to boot up this machine with a Knoppix live CD and from there I'm able to access hda1 and hda3... but what can or should I do from here?

Anyone out there able to give me some guideance, please?!?

Kind regards,
Beamland

Frontend running KnoppMyth R5C7 on Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro motherboard (nForce2 chipset), 512MB Ram, 40 GB IDE Harddrive, nVidia MX440 graphics card, Athlon XP 2800

doohh... just came across this post http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10358 and now remember that I had added unstable branch in /etc/apt/sources.list and had tried to reinstall lirc with apt-get install lirc. Sounds like I have to reinstall my machine from scratch again...
