I've tried nearly every combo without success at all.

The situation:
Adelphia Cable: tunerless
TunerCard: PVR-150

I think the set-up options should read as follows:
General -- NTSC and US Cable
Capture Card -- MPEG-2 encoder card, dev/video 0, Composite 0

If these are right, I'll know to look else where for the problem.

Not terribly clear there...

"Tunerless" - Do you mean no cable box? Or using a cable box so not using the cards tuner? This is the core of the matter.

If you have no cable box then you should be configring the card for "Tuner" to use the builtin tuner. I did a write up a month or so back that went through this scenario. Ah, here it is (about the 4th posting this this thread) - http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9424

If you do have a cable box your setup will be different and require the use of an external tuner script and some means of controlling the cable box.

Yes -- you are right -- none too clear. Sorry.

I should have said "straight from the wall."

I followed the sugestion here:Ah, here http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9424. Your advice was exactly on point, and helped me further along. But still no reception of TV -- just static.

I have set-up mythTV b4 -- I am at a vacation house am am having trouble with the local set-up. However, I am relatively confident of that my mythset-up options are correct. The ones you suggested were the first ones and just make the most sense to me. Also I tried us-cable, us-cable-hrc, us-cable-irc, and even us-broadcast. Static on all fronts.

So if not my set-up options, I suspect that something went wrong with my Zap2it contections. Is there a method to check this?

Thanks.

Plug a TV directly into the same connection and look at what channels are available and what's currently on.

Now (assuming you've either got a way to switch back and forth or a monitor) look at what is in the program guide under Manage Recordings -> Schedule Recordings -> Program Guide and make sure they match.

The troubleshooting page on the wiki also has some info on "black screen/snow when watching TV".

- Have you checked your connection? Straight from the wall to the cable tap on the PVR-150 card? Does using the exact same cable connection work for a TV? (Don't daisy chain splitters, it's better to use one N-way splitter than a chain of 2-way splitters, and always use the screw on connectors rather than push on type.)

- Have you checked that the card is recognized by the drivers? (See the wiki for directions on checking the logs.)

- Have you tried upgrading to the 0.4.4 version of the ivtv driver? (Again see the wiki for directions on compiling ivtv.)

tjc,

Thanks for your help. Those of us with intermediate Linux skills have a very difficult time sorting through all the info. (there is a lot of it) and recognizing when the documents are out of date.

Thanks for your help and patience

Presumably that means you got it working? What was the key fix?

I've been studying Linux for quite some time, but I needed a project to which I could apply my new linux knowledge -- MythTV is that project.

Sorry no, I ever did get the system to work -- I had to leave the vacation location.

I am home again and trying to set-up an OTA High Def system. My first objective is to get the cx88-dvb module to load, or perhaps I might compile it into the kernel -- both of these will be good exercises.

I do not believe that the source code for cx88-dvb is currently on the machine. Sorting-out this issue is my next task. Perhaps it is on the cd that came with my HD-3000 card?

Wish me luck, and again, thanks for your help.
