I am able to connect and use my USB hard drive. Are there any special steps I need to take before I disconnect it? I'm currently executing "/etc/init.d/autofs stop" before I pull the USB plug, but I suspect that I should not have to do this. My main concern is ensuring that any buffers have been properly flushed. If I simply "pull the plug", will all the right things happen?

Marc

Hi marc.aronson,

I don't use the auto mount, instead I use an entry in fstab. then I can mount or umount drives or mem stick knowing files are closed properly.

Have a great day!
Mike
