Just a quick question

I'm trying to get a signal from a antenna try to get UHF channels , what do I set as input in the myth box setting.

Also is there a manual way to edit the frequencies, I'm in Cairns qld Australia and need to add custom frequencies for this location.

Depending on what card you're using something like "tuner".

You can add channels to the DB tables using the channel editor in mythtv-setup.

Theres three options Television, Composite and S-Video. Is input from Antenna the Composite?? I've been trying Television with no luck.

I have a Winfast 2000 expert card.

There is only has a Frequency Id entry on my version, I don't think that a frequency but a frequency reference as far as what I've read.

"Television" is what you want. Composite is for using the RCA video connector from a VCR or cable box. S-Video is just a better quality version of Composite.

What country are you in?
You may need to change one of the frequency related options so that mythtv knows which list of channel frequencies to use.
Also linux may not be detecting your tv card correctly. You may need to specify the "card" and "tuner" type numbers.

Australia, I'm pulling the programs ok.

Trouble is, the qld regional is not just one city and there are alot of different frequencies. I'm in cairns.

So is there a frequency table I can edit?

The channel table in the mythconverg database under mysql:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Channel_table

As I said before one of the easiest ways to poke at it is using the Channel Editor under mythtv-setup:
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=GettingBackIntoMytTVsetup

You can also use Webmin -> Servers -> MySQL Database Server:
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=WebminHowTo

Or you can even use mysql directly:
Code:
mysql mythconverg -e 'select * from channel'

The standard frequency sets are hard coded into MythTV, but I believe that you can override those and define a channel to simply be a particular frequency. For example the mythfilldatabase utility has an option (--xawchannels) to import frequencies obtained by xawtv:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mythfilldatabase
Code:
mythfilldatabase --help | more

There is a lot more information out there if you look for it. For example here's tutorial on channel hacking from a Danish user:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/XMLTV_Myth_Channel_Setup

You shouldn't need to modify the frequency table, I just wanted to be sure it was set correctly. In this screen in mythtv-setup make sure the "Channel Frequency Table" is set to Australia.

To get the correct channel numbers for each of your local TV channels you need to go to the second page in the channel editor screen. Or you can modify the channel settings in the mythweb thingomajig.
As for the Cairns channel numbers try the analog table here from the dba website.
