How can i change the host name on my backend. RIght now its blank and lists as unknown computer instead of what i want = myth. THanks |

ok I"ve done that but i still can't navigate to http://myth I have to use the IP. any thoughts? |

since something tells me that your not running your own nameserver.. add your myth box to the host file of machine you trying to reach it from. |

why don't you just set up an ssh tunnel (port 8001 to mythtv:8001) and do it all over ssh. encrypt the whole thing in the process ![]() ![]() |

One should just change the hostname that the backend is running on. Doing so can hose your setup as MythTV stores settings in the db based on host name. I highly suggest you read the MythTV docs if you intend on change the hostname. |

ya relized the hard way that it doesn't like to have the host name changed. Changed it back and just set it up with a static ip and put that in the hosts file. THanks for the suggestions |
