Post subject: | Hauppage pvr150 card and A415-HPG remote |
I'm trying to get my A415-HPG remote to work with my pvr150 card. I bought the remote off of Ebay separately from the card. The remote came with an infrared remote blaster cable. There isn't an available plugin jack on the pvr150 card. For this remote to work does the card have to have this plugin jack? I ran the lirc-reconfig.sh script and set it for the A415-HPG remote and it says it set up the remote but it's not working. Any help would be appreciated since I'm almost getting there with my setup. ![]() |

Yes. That IR sensor/blaster dongle only works with the cards that have the jack for it. There is a USB based dongle which you may be able to get from Hauppauge (http://www.hauppauge.com/), but you configure that as an MCEUSB or MCEUSB2 device. |

I won an Ebay autcion for an X10 remote w/RF receiver. Will this remote work with my PVR150? If it does then I'll be putting my Hauppage A415-HPG with plugin receiver up for sale. ![]() |

In this case the PVR-150 has nothing to do with it. Remember the remote doesn't actually control the card, it controls the MythTV frontend application (via the lircd driver), which controls the MythTV backend, which controls the card via the ivtv driver. The right question is, is that controller supported by lircd? The place to find that answer is the lirc website - http://www.lirc.org/ If the answer turns out to be "no", it's time to check the mythtv website to see if it supports any other remote control drivers... http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/User_Manual:Setting_Up#Remote_Controls |

The PVR150's remote sensor can only listen to it's own remote, essentially. It's not a universal IR receiver. I bought a serial port IR thing from Iguanaworks (found around lirc's web site), and it's able to read any remote you throw at it. |

Any IR remote. Will not work with an RF remote like fluharme's latest purchase. Would probably work just fine with the Hauppauge IR remote he got the first time around. |

Thanks people. ![]() When I run the lircd-reconfig.sh the X10 does show up as one of the remotes listed. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and see what happens once it gets here. ![]() |

Or, rip that IR sensor out of your VCR you are no longer using, grab a dead mouse, the computer type, not one your cat dragged in. Rip the cable off, and solder to IR sensor, You need one xtra resistor and a diode if you want to play safe, VCR would probably supply those as well, and plug the thing in. I am sure the lircd website documents all this. You will need the bit of purple plastic in front of the sensor as well, otherwise fluro lights will stop it from working. |

computer shows often sell old packert bell remotes that only work in windows 95-ME, but have full support in LIRC and have a universal serial port IR device |
