Post subject:  Samba shared dir shows only some files?

I have my /myth directory shared out over samba, and almost everything works great. The only little bit of wierdness that I see is when I open the samba share from Windows or my Xbox, my myth "pretty" directory (when did they add that? It's a good idea!) only shows about 1/3 of the files that appear when I list the directory on the local machine. I think they're mostly older files (maybe the oldest 20 files), but I'm not sure that's the dividing factor.

Is this something wrong with the configuration of the client, or the server? Has anybody ever heard of this happening before? What can be done to fix it?

anything unique ablut the 'missing' files? Long names, spaces in names, odd characteres in name?

Just a thought

Yep, I saw that same behavior... older files didn't show up when viewing my /myth/pretty directory on my Windows machine.

I looked around and didn't see anything obvious (like permissions or ownership) so just took the brute-force method of deleting all the symbolic links in /myth/pretty and re-running mythlink.sh

Or maybe it was related to differences in the mythlink.sh that came with R5B7... check this thread

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... t=mythlink

I run the edited version of mythlink.sh with very good results.

OK, well, I tried clearing the directory and re-running mythlink and it works fine. If new shows stop showing up, I'll create a cron job to wipe the directory and re-run mythlink at 3am or something, and if that fails, I'll work on implementing the edited script. I'm really, really wary of messing with things that mostly work ;-)

Yes, it does, I have noticed while working with a shared folder both from a linux shell and from a Windows machine. For example file sizes does not change instantly in samba if I edit a file.
