| Post subject: | End of my Knoppmyth world when Debian Etch released? |
Shades of Christopher Columbus... I'm running R5D1 and want to know if the apt-get world comes to an end once Debian Etch comes out in December(?). I use apt-get frequently for stuff like firefox, adobe, and flash on my MythTV box. 1) Do I need to hard-code all of my apt repositories in 'sources.list' to say 'sarge' instead of 'stable'? 2) Once Etch is the 'stable' OS, does anything evil happen if I run apt-get/apt-install and I leave my apt 'sources.list' alone? 3) Is there a benefit in upgrading my Knoppmyth box OS to Debian Etch or would this be a collossal mistake for a newbie such as me? 4) Should I never ever run apt-get again after December 1st to be safe? /s/ Chicken Little |

Rumor has it there's a major codebase change coming. You probably don't have anything to worry about. |
