I just installed Mandriva Spring One 2007 on my laptop. I have to say I am very impressed. Ubuntu would hard lockup randomly I think because of my Dlink wireless card. Anyway, so far I am really loving me some man-driver...uh mandriva. Even though it has a gay distro name, a really gay release name (Mandriva Spring), and even more gay default theme (orange with flowers) (Aren't they based in France after all? ) it is very solid so far and very responsive. This might turn out to be my distro of choice, with a few more masculine theme and desktop changes! It even has a working network manager for my Dlink Atheros chipset! I used Mandrake years ago as my first linux distro (thanks to Cecil), but when they went to Mandriva, it had way too many bugs. Using an rpm distro after all these years is quite a change. But so far I dont see the problems I used to have years ago. There is even mythtv-frontend packages that work with Latest R5F1. |
