I was just wondering… about the age of the people contributing to this forum. So thought of posting a poll… Be Real!

"Wise". I like that! Can't convince the wife and kids of it, but I'll take it!

I sometimes wonder if other people my age are constantly messing around with 'puter projects or it it is just pimply faced teenaged boys who know twice as much about computers as I do. I began Mythtv on Fedora when I was about 34 and now I'm 38.....go figure...a lot of people drive the family crazy like I do.

Here is my latest line... "No honey...when you use the mythbox first go to the keyboard in the closet and do a CTRL, ALT, Backspace.....I'll change that soon but for now it is the easiest thing for you to do"

She actually knows it's not a matter of me changing it...It's a matter of me searching the forums for someone with a similar problem and then hopefully solving the issue.

I live with my inlaws, wife and two kids in a big house. I am the phone/network/TV 'guy'. I get calls from home to work about once a week, like an IT helpdesk.

I'm 30, been thirty for almost 9 months now. I like it, I think I'll stay 30.

I had to choose 'Wise', since the numbers didn't go high enough.

I began working with computers coding FORTRAN on Punch Cards! I would hate to load the code for KM that way! I still have a couple of the 10.5" IBM tape reels around here somewhere, too.

My frirst experience with Linux was a very early distribution of Slackware...on Floppies....needed about 40 (1.44M) for the whole distribution.

Couldn't have been that early. Debian came on 12 when I started using Linux (late 90s).

Only 35 Cecil? Now I feel old!

My wife thinks that I'm wise, but she usually follows it with slang referring to certain body parts

Assembled my first computer at 14 from a kit. Made a memory expansion for my next one using a wire wrap pen and a few static ram chips 6116 (2kx8) at 16 {what ever happend to SRAM so easy to use even for a school kid}. Wrote an obscure interpreter for the commadore pet for a language called C.E.S.I.L. at school to save all us kids from having to make punch cards to be taken to the local university. Where have all the years gone.
