Post subject: | ssh mythtv-setup |
Hi, Im trying to change my backend configuration via ssh, two questions (I am still a little fresh with linux) 1. How can I enable x-tunneling on the backend when I can only connect to it via another computer eg ssh? 2. Failing this, I need to change my mythbackend ip, usually done through mythtv-setup, is there a configuration file I can edit? Thanks alot for any suggestions! |

KnoppMyth R5E50 has VNC enabled by default. Easiest to use VNC (password mythtv) ssh is on as well, but since version R5F1 root and mythtv are not permitted ssh access. Use the userID you created during KM install. ALT+S will get you into mythtv-setup Here is howto on X over ssh, but IMO VNC is easier if a secure connection not required. http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... romWindows |

There are security implications with this of course, but in /etc/ssh/sshd_config you can change: Code: PermitRootLogin no to yes.

Netcardconfig doesn't need X. Just log in, su to root and run netcardconfig. I can't think of any X applications that root requires. It is generally a sign that something isn't right if you need to start an X application as root. |
