| Post subject: | Serial port cards for my IR |
I am replacing some of my front end hardware and have what should be a simple problem. All of my new machines lack a serial port - all of my ir receivers from my old machines are serial. So I have two choices... replace the ir receivers with USB receivers or add a PCI-e serial port card to the machines. I have tried setting up one with a serial card and have not been successful (driver problem). Has anybody been able to make this work or does anybody have a suggestion here? My new machines are Dell 531s machines with an available PCI-e X1 slot. Thanks. |

If you cannot get an addon card to work... I cannot attest to their functionality, but have you tried a RS232-to-USB adapter? |

I have not tried the adapter - I inferred from posts elsewhere that the serial to USB adapters did not work. I would love to use it - does anybody know? |
