I have recently tried adding aac files to my music library but when I scan for new music in KnoppMyth version R5F27 music tools it does not find the files in the library. Am I missing something?

I have tested the files out using mplayer and they play fine so, I am a little lost here. Is anyone else having this problem? The scan seems to find all the other file types (.ogg, .mp3, .flac) but, my aac files are still missing. Am I missing something here?

MythMusic doesn't recognize AAC files (at least the version of MythMusic that ships with KnoppMyth). it's a known bug that the mythtv developers are working on, last I checked.

From the Change log:

Recompiled faac and faad.
Recompiled MythMusic to support AAC.

So, is the change log not correct?

MythMusic in R5F27 finds and plays m4a files (iTunes encoded aac) perfectly for me.

How did you transfer the files to the KM box? Does the mythtv user have permission to read them?

my music library is on a samba share on my windows box and it is mounted with user mythtv's permisions. I have generated the aac files as well as flac files with winamp. Mythmusic finds and plays the flac files fine it just never discovers the aac files. Is there somewhere where it might display the errors that it is having when scanning the music library?

What extension do the aac files have?

You can try looking at /var/log/mythtv/mythfrontend.log

.aac

I didn't find anything in the log files. I am tempted to install from svn. I had done that before I did the upgrade to r5f27 and liked some of the newer features in myth music and myth archive as well as the clock in the menus. If that fixes the aac problem I am having I will be happy.

You could try changing the extension to .m4a and MythMusic should see them then. All my aac files have the .m4a extension and MythMusic sees and plays them fine in R5F27.
