I did a:

# apt-get install xdm

Which installed xdm. I have a win32 x-server setup on a winxp box and am running into some configuration problems with xdm on the mythbox. I'm no LINUX wiz so most of the xdm howto I read went over my head.

Can anyone out there help me get this software running so I can (hopefully) see the mythtv GUI in my xserver on a win machine?

Thanks!

Use XServer that comes with CygWin installation. Or use weirdx, a java based XServer.

yes xdm has nothing to do with what you are trying to do.

as root run dpkg-reconfigure gdm

it will ask you which display manager you want choose gdm.
