It looks like fsck is not running on my root file system when I reboot. Both the mount count and the "interval" check should have triggered an fsck. Any insights you may be able to provide on why this is happening would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Marc

Here is an extract from /var/log/kern.log:
Code:
Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: EXT2-fs warning: checktime reached, running e2fsck is recommended
Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).

Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: (fs/jbd/recovery.c, 255): journal_recover: JBD: recovery, exit status 0, recovered transactions 4245221 to 4245410
Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: (fs/jbd/recovery.c, 257): journal_recover: JBD: Replayed 3114 and revoked 4/9 blocks
Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: kjournald starting.  Commit interval 5 seconds
Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: EXT3-fs warning: maximal mount count reached, running e2fsck is recommended
Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: EXT3 FS on hda1, internal journal
Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: EXT3-fs: recovery complete.
Apr 30 16:45:38 mythhd kernel: EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.

So they system feels it should run fsck, but I don't see any evidence of it running. Here is the superblock for that file system (output from tune2fs -l /dev/hda1):

You might look into this...

The sixth (space delimited) field on the line in /etc/fstab
must exist and be non-zero for that file system to be checked.
