OK, I'm new to the Arch thing. Seems like there are more then a few changes. This wiki page is really helpful, but I have some more questions. I'm sure answers are obvious, but I need some handholding I guess. 1. What's up with crontab? I see /usr/bin/crontab, but I cant see anything in nano that is english. 2. pacman? OK, I know what it does, but why named such? any tips on using? 3. Finally found where the scripts go... that took some lookin' for... /usr/LH/bin/ But this looks a little lite in the scripts to me, are there some missing? I brought over maybe 10 myself, but I'm still re-writing them with the new hierarchy/file format. Is the setup missing some? 4. I can't find the ipodfeed directory? I tried symlinking my existing ipod directory to /data/srv/httpd/htdocs/ but it's not showing up. http://ipaddress/ipodfeed/ shows 404. I must be missing something here. 5. Is there a problem with mencoder into x264? I'm getting a FATAL: Cannot initialize video driver. but not much more info. |

1) OK, crontab -e opens cron in vi by default. I'm more of a nano guy. After some searching I found that export VISUAL='nano' will now open cron in nano. If it looks like gobildygook, first backup crontab (cp /usr/bin/crontab /usr/bin/crontab.old) import an old cron version (crontab /etc.old/crontab) and then edit (crontab -e) Now you should be able to edit cron in nano. Make sure crontab looks like the /usr/bin/crontab.old |
