Just finished an install of R8 and I've noticed that permission's colors are not being displayed when using ssh. They are displayed in the xterm in a console window on the box.

I did find a reference to dircolors but not sure to make it work for ssh sessions.

Anyone know how to set this up?

I have not used or installed R8.

That said, check your .bashrc file in your home directory, look for an alias similar to:
Code:
eval `dircolors`
alias ls='ls --color=auto'

I did have colors when logged as other accounts but not root.

Looked for a .bashrc in the root account but it did not exist. So I copied the one from the mythtv account, logged in as root but still no color. Then I renamed to .profile, logged in again and Permissions colors were there.

Thank
