Yeah and it would be great if the networks read the howto and syncronized themselves to the real time, but they seem to have their own idea of time.

How hard is it to grok the man page? First let's ask the system what time it is:
Code:
root@black:~ # date
Sat Oct  2 01:20:14 EDT 2004

Now that wre have a target, as root the short command to set the clock to the month, day, hour and minute closest to that would be:
Code:
date 10020120

If you want the whole enchilada it's:
Code:
date 10020120200414

(month, day, hour, minute, year, and finally second) Not all that intuitive or easy to remember, but it's not rocket science either...

Thanks to all that responded. I knew this would be easy for you guys, some of us don't use the command line that often and just need a little help. I hope this will help other newbies.

Thanks
