I tried installing xmame on my mythtv box.

apt-get install xmame

It didn't work. I've giving up on xmame since I don't play games anyways, but now I'm trying to install lvm-common and the failed xmame install is causing problems.

I tried using apt-get -f install, but get the following:

# apt-get -f install

I would appreciate any help...

To quote the master, perhaps a search http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/search.php of the forum? BTW - Using any of the following strings from the error messages you posted above as search terms will return a small selection of threads with the answer you're looking for: "libxv1", or: "/usr/X11R6/lib/libXv.so.1.0", or: "also in package xlibs", or: ...
