I need to disable the frontend on startup for various reasons. I've been looking in /etc/init.d/ and ~/ dot files, but can't find anything

Where is mythfronted started from? R5A12

The frontend is started by the windowmanager fluxbox, so try remove this line in /home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps

Code:
[startup] {KnoppMyth-run}

I have problems where starting XWindows crashes the system, so just not starting the MythTV front end doesn't help.

How do I keep XWindows from automatically starting?

Thanks, Xsecrets. That worked.

For other newbies out there, to start the gdm after doing that:
Login as root and then...
/etc/rc5.d/K99gdm start

Now I can debug driver problems that crash my system! Thanks

once you get it fixed all you have to do is move it back to S to get it starting on boot again.
