Yes. Is it supported no. Dual boot work for some, doesn't for others. Please search the forum. |

Couldn't find any articles in the forum on this, can you post link? I suppose it's like the other distros, install windows first to its own partition, then install linux on other partitions and the boot loader will let you choose on startup. hopefuly knoppmyth works this way too. |

well it's not quite so easy with knoppmyth as it was never designed with dual boot in mind. wow look here I typed in "dual boot" and checked use all words and like the 5th topic was http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... =dual+boot |

you could also try a third party boot manager - like Bootit NG by terabyte. |

My original plan was to multiboot KnoppMyth with two instances of Win2K, Debian, and MSDOS. I think I've changed my mind, but the steps I planned to take may be of some use (I've set up several multiboot systems, albeit none with KnoppMyth). Going into KnoppMyth I had a SATA drive successfully multibooting Win2k#1, Win2k#2, MSDOS, and Debian. Neither of the Windows installations knows about the other. I do not like anything about Microsoft's dual-boot setup. It can really hose up a complex setup. I use the XOSL boot manager. This is an extremely flexible and free piece of code. Get it from http://www.ranish.com/part/xosl.htm Read about how to keep Windows from discovering other Windows in the multibooting link below. To make KnoppMyth installation simple, I totally disconnected that SATA drive and plugged in a new (unpartitioned, unformated) 200Gb PATA drive. I ran the KnoppMyth fully auto install there, so that entire 200Gb drive is used by KnoppMyth. This is where I'm sitting at the moment, on the PATA with the SATA unplugged. My original plan was to go back and replug the SATA drive and modify the XOSL configuration to add a menu item to boot off the second drive for KnoppMyth. I also would need to verify that the BIOS is setup to boot from the SATA drive first so that XOSL gets started. Up until now I've had both drives installed, but only one connected so the issue of who-boots-first has not come up. Simple enough to verify and change in BIOS if needed. For multibooting tutorials, my bible is a set of webpages put up by Dan Goodell. Follow every link on this guy's pages and read every word he has written. Very, very good! Multibooting Linux OS'es is easy. They'll boot any-old-where. Windows is more tricky. You have to coerce it to boot out of extended partitions, but it can be done. Read the scoop at http://www.goodells.net/multiboot/ I may continue with my multiboot plans later, or I may just canabalize the SATA drive and setup LVM to increase KnoppMyth storage. Time will tell what I eventually decide to do. |

Would it be possible to run Windows in a VMWare image instead of dual booting? Basically, all I want to use windows for is to occasionally play World Of Warcraft on my tv. |

Hi, Win 2k, myth can live together... install windows first, use ubuntu to to resize and make partions, manual install, tweaks to lilo.conf, or save a partition and install ubuntu also to use as a tool. The you can use grub as a boot loader. There are a lot of details posted. Mike |
