Hi, just saw the news that I shouldn't use R5A22 (see below) Quote: 11/08/05
Please don't use R5A22. If you are doing a new install, please use R5A16. I accidently included a SVN version of MythTV in R5A22. According to Isaac, there is "no guarantee" this will smoothly upgrade to 0.19. If you are using R5A22, we are working on a way to safely revert MythTV to 0.18.2. My humble apologoies for the mix up. Ok, it won't upgrade to 0.19. Is this a big issue? What's this SVN thingie? At the moment, I'm almost (famous last words) there with my initial build of MythTV after a fair old bit of faffing, so should I burn R5A16 and re-do it? At the mo' if I can get it running to be awarded the highest honour of G.A. (Girlfriend Approval) I'll be happy. So i'm just curious really! Thanks |

I'm confused ... I did an R5A22 installation on a new hard drive that works just fine [with minor fixes]... ( ntsc ota ) where's the downside ? |

Exactly. I'm using R5A22 and it worked ok. What gives? |

The downside is that the version in R5A22 generally won't work with other back or frontends, and there may be a problem with upgrading the database schema for future versions (though I think the db upgrade will end up being a non-issue) |

SO what you are saying is, my seperate frontend in my frontend/backend set up would have to be R5A22 build also? Or are you saying I can't have a seperate frontend/backend with this build? Or is it I can only use R5A22 seperate frontend/backend? (Too many questions? .... Forgive my ignorance please, I just want to be sure as I intend to have a seperate frontend soon.) Ta |

So not a problem if you keep it running on the same box.... And watch this space to see if there will be a database problem downstream ? |

frontend/backend same or seperate work fine as long as they are all knoppmyth R5A22, however if you try minimyth or xbmc or anything like that it won't work. |

That's what I thought you meant: As long as all R5A22 it'll work. Just wanted to be absolutely sure! ![]() |

So... is there a way to "downgrade" to R5A16? I want to connect a couple more frontends, which happen to be XBOXs ![]() Or will I need to do a full re-install? |

If you are currently using R5A22, keep using it. There maybe issue w/ trying to downgrade to an earlier version of MythTV. We are trying to figure a way to do this safely. Have you checked the mirrors? |
