Post subject:  How to get hardware supported?

Hi all,

I've found this device http://www.digital-everywhere.com/cms/en/index.php while searching for DVB/HDTV tuner cards with decrypting capabilities for the cable provider of my country. I found out, that other devices (combo's of DVB PCI cards with common interfaces or CAM's) wouldn’t work due to decrypting issues and the updating process of smartcards as the cable provider forces them.

Unfortunately, this firewire-based tuner is not supported yet by MythTV and linux drivers/modules. First steps first, I thought, joining the forum of the company and asking about the development of linux drivers. :o :o :o Got RE: mail from a manager. It turns out, that the company is interested in further development of linux drivers for their fireDTV/floppyDTV. In the past there was some development by external developers, but further efforts are not on the internal roadmap of the company. There will be support to linux developers (I assume spec's, api's...).
Second step: searching developers. Until now, this is a dead-end-no-turn-road. As I have the deepest respect for all those guys, working in their spare time to code for MythTV and the linux kernel, I would ever blame them for not responding to e-mails.

Can anybody advise how to get developers (both MythTV and linux module developers) get interested in this tuner?

 Once this job is done, I'm shure that there are some kbytes space left on the KnoppMyth iso to support...

I'd suggest the DVB mailing list.
