G'day all, I am coming to the conclusion that sata is just plain bad and maybe it should not be used at all... for anything. I am getting... Go to the disk manufacturer's website and download their diagnostic tool. You can typically get a bootable CD ISO, which you can then use to test the disk. If it passes the tests, then you know its a software bug somewhere. If it doesn't pass the test, you can try swapping the cable or the controller port the drive is on. If the drive really is failing, the diagnostic tool will spit out an RMA code for you. SATA under linux has definitely been a hassle in my experience, but it's getting better. |
