or will I need to manually configure my Addresses, IRQ's, and DMA settings?

No you will probably not need to configure any of those things.

However... you will need to configure about a dozen other far more complicated things. :lol:

If you want to try Knoppmyth make sure before hand that you are using the same components that other people are having success with.

there is a ton of wisdom in that last sentance.. any new linux users would do VERY well to only use VERY tried and true hardware.. if you stick to cards like the pvr250 / hd3000 older air2pc's and nvidia graphics cards, 99.9% of problems go away! your sanity is not worth saving 30 dollars and useing a garage sale graphics card :D

Thanks for the responses. Will the OS controll the PNP configuration or should I let the bios take control?

As for hardware, Yes I already posess 'tried and true' hardware, just need to pickup a PVR card; probably a 250. I've frequented the hardware and hardware to avoid forums where I learned that I'd better not use my apollo pro mb and switch to an intel based chipset.
