Post subject:  How do you repair an ext3 parition?

I wanted to reintall knoppmyth without losing my video files. So I mounted a spare HD I had, then copied all the files over. Then I reinstalled knoppmyth.

Now I want to remount that drive and copy the files back, but it doesn't seem to be able to detect what type of filesystem it has. I'm pretty sure it's ext3, but is there a way to check?

The main drive is only about 140 GB, but the one I want to mount is 200GB with about 90 GB of data on it. How can I recover my files? Thanks!

How did you mount the drive originally? Why didn't you just use use the backup/auto upgrade feature? Boot off the CD and use cfdisk.

I was originally using the R5a22 build which from what I understand used the wrong version of mythtv so I was advised not to upgrade.

Either way, the damage is done. I used the instructions on the wiki to mount it originally.

Well If you really made an LVM volume group, created a filesystem on it, and moved/copied the contents of /myth there, the first thing you need to do after an upgrade is get LVM reconfigured. See this how to: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=KnoppMythUpgradeWithLVM
