Post subject: | Failed to open card error |
I'm new to using MythTV, and the KnoppMyth seemed to be a great way to start.....So far, not doing so well. A little about my hardware first : Shuttle SB51G SFF system P4 3.06Ghz 512MB RAM 250GB Maxtor HDD Hauppage WinTV 150 w/ remote All connected to a Samsung 42" Plasma via a standard DB-15 monitor cable. The problem I'm running in to is during the MythTV setup. I try to specify the card I'm using (It doesn't auto-detect it) but once I get into the configuration of the card, and I try to scan channels, it reports "Failed to open card". Any thoughts? |

Look at the IVTV detection info in the logs. http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... ngLogFiles If it thinks youhave a PVR-250 instead of a 150 upgrade to ivtv 0.4.4 following the directions here. http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv It should tell you which video device they're on as well. Make sure you're using the right one in mythtv-setup. |

I am also getting this error. I followed the steps at the bottom of http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=TVCaptureCards which helped it get detected at boot, but no luck after that |

Details please. We can't help you without details. Version of KM, hardware, what else have you tried, what do the logfiles say now? In the meantime go through the troubleshooting checklist here: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... WatchingTV Pay particular attention to the bit that says, "Also note that you may have more than one thing wrong, don't stop reading after the first thing that matches and assume that's the whole story." |
