Hi i'm sure its something simple. R5A30.2 was working great. I am very excited about the R5B7. I like everything i see so far. Everything installed without a hitch. Only problem (and its a big one) is that when i go to Watch TV the screen is stretched so bad that its skewed and i only see half of the entire picture. It was like this on my monitor and on my TV-Out. Please help. I had a Tier 1 setup essentially with R5A30.2.

Thanks in advance.
KC

Did you drop and recreate you tuner cards in mythtv-setup?

BTW - Did you see and follow the R5B7 upgrade hints posting?

Upgrades I just try to avoid all together (until final release is out :-D) So recreating the cards wasn't the problem. I will try getting newer driver even tho I have NViDiA. Thanx for the help. Everything looks Excellent in this new release. Good work TJC & Cecil. ViVa La Revloutione!!!!!

Try different modelines. Try different color depths.
After switching from DVI to VGA/Component, I had the "reversed split-screen" effect until I switched to 16-bit color from the default of 24.

I kind of understand the modelines. Where are they set exactly in the config file and how would i change them. I"m using the XF86Config-4.nvidia.tvout.sample

In this file: XF86Config-4
There is a line for the defaultcolordepth.

ex:
Section "Screen"
DefaultColorDepth 16

You'll see that you've got various modelines for the various sections. In my case, I would get different effects with the same modeline called from the various sections. Setting the DefaultColorDepth was the key, for me at least.

Slackem - not sure I understood your response. You were running R5A30.2 and are now running R5B7 right? Did you upgrade or install from scratch? If you upgraded and have a PVR-150 or PVR-500, the new version of the ivtv drivers included in R5B7 requires that you redo you capture card configuration. If you don't you'll see all kinds of funky symptoms.

As for a sample XF86Config-4, a search should show any number posted here, as well as an FX5200 example config on the wiki that works for many people.

Sorry i tend to do that alot. I am running R5B7 fresh install from scratch right now. R5A30.2 was working flawlessly. After new R5B7 install I deleted the new tv card config and redid them just for kicks but i get the same problem.

Its as if the picture is stretched to WideScreen and its only showing half of the widescreen. Its not the aspect ratios or anything. Even if it was I'd still be able to see the whole picture. The left half to be exact. I will attempt some of this modeline stuff to see if that works. Regular run of the mill SVideo TV with.

I left out most important part. its only when i go to watch tv. XWin and the menu screen look fine. Preview guide also looks fine. Its when I watch LiveTV / Recordings.

Check the /var/log/XFree86.0.log to see which modeline is being used, and what is your virtual desktop size.
Look for:
Code:
Virtual screen size determined

and
Code:
Setting mode

You may have a mis-match here.
