I've been trying to resslove my lack of opengl and tv flickering since I have an older 440MX on board video. Anyway, what is the out-of-the-box version of the nvidia driver that would be installed on a R5F27 system?

Can someone test this for me by simply running

$nvidia-settings from a shell within X? The first screen show display a version number of the "NVIDIA Driver Version" section.

It depends. The scripts try to install the appropriate driver for your card. The available options are listed on this wiki page:

There is also a text file that contains the compatibility lists that the script uses to try to pick the driver. See the comments in /usr/local/bin/check-nvidia-driver-version.pl for the details.

thanks, tjc! Finally bit the bullet and followed the instructions on the wiki reverting back to the R5F1 drivers. All seems well again
