I want to make sure I have this driver change portion of the fix correct.

....so i just mount an R5F1 iso, switch to the "usr\src\debs\nvidia\latest" directory, and run the "dpkg -i --force-conflicts --force-overwrite *.deb"? And then when I get an error, I run a -P command on the error file. And finally a "dpkg -i --force-conflicts --force-overwrite *.deb"....

I want to make sure I understand this right so I do not end up doing YET ANOTHER reinstall. I know, I am selfish and I am pretty much repeating another post! It would be nice to use the MX4000 cards because I think these FX55XX cards are overkill when I am just using them for TVOUT on my linux mythtv machines.

Thanks,
-Loco

you have the process correct.. It till be the glx package that give you the error.

To get to the KNOPPIX, you will need to modprobe cloop then mount the file as /dev/cloop to a mount point.

I think this would solve my issues as well, but I dont know how to do this, is there a guide somewhere that describes how to mount an older version and get this file?

I'm having similar problems with the s-video on my TV now looking sucky. I'm running a GeForce MX420 AGP card with an nVidia mobo/AMD system. I'm betting that going back to older nvidia drivers will work, but I haven't actively worked on my system since I upgraded it to R5A26, and don't have a super-thorough knowledge of linux, packages, etc.

Could somebody post a dumbed-down version of how to mount an old KM image, how to find the needed driver and make my setup actually look decent again with R5F27? Pretty please?

I would be happy to make a nicely formatted entry in the wiki if I could get this cloop to work. The information I have found by googling just doesn't seem to fill in the gaps for me to understand and get it to work.

From what I can tell, I just need to use the insmod command followed by a mount command, but it doesn't seem to work when I follow what is described in the link posted above.

Is this any help?

I got my R5F1 drivers from a hard drive with R5F1 installed on it because I had it handy and didn't want to research how to get access to the files inside the R5F1 CD.

Actually it was from an image I copied off just before upgrading. I image my root partition before upgrade to make it easy to put back if something goes wrong.
