I have a weird issue playing a recording back from the SFE (slave frontend) when the recording is over 1 hour long. The issue happens when the playback hits 1 hour and anytime you fast forward, the SFE will only move 2 seconds (instead of 30 seconds). I know the recordings are fine because the playback of the same file on the Master Backend, plays fine.

I am running R5D1. The SFE is an AMD based system. The SFE can play all files 1 hour or under without issues.

After over a year with this issue, I finally figured it out. Mounting the /myth on a slave frontend via SMB causes weird issues. The /myth directory should be mounted via NFS. Also, the NFS overall performance is much better than SMB.

Good info to know. Out of curiosity, why did you use Samba originally? Every tutorial I've seen (like on the Knoppmythwiki) provides these instructions using NFS.

I didn't have all of my disks in an LVM, so I was mounting disks underneath the /myth directory. You can force NFS to do this, but it can cause issues with duplicate INODES. So, I used SMB because it didn't have this problem.

Now, I am exporting the mount points of all of the drives and individually mounting them on the client.
