1) Busting Cecil's chops == bad idea, especially about KnoppMyth.

2) His stated strategy on this is "the latest _released_ versions". When MythTV 0.21 is released then it'll be a candidate for inclusion in KnoppMyth.

I ran into some difficulty implementing Cecil's instructions. I would like to complete procedure because of all the customization performed on the drive, however, if I can't get it to work, then I must use Cecil's new image.

As you can see from the output below, I downloaded files into a directory I created called /schedulesdirect.

Observations:

I ran the qmake mythtv.pro and did not receive any feedback. I did this twice. I did it one more time as I wrote this message and got a different result

Code:
root@mythtvhost:~/schedulesdirect# qmake mythtv.pro
Error processing project file: /root/schedulesdirect/mythtv.pro

When I execute the comand from /schedulesdirect/mythtv it seems to work OK, but does not provide any feedback that it was successful. Is there a test I can perform to validate?

Code:
root@mythtvhost:~/schedulesdirect# cd mythtv
root@mythtvhost:~/schedulesdirect/mythtv# ls
AUTHORS  Makefile   bindings    config.h    configfiles  database  i18n      mythtv.pro    themes
COPYING  README     config      config.log  configure    docs      keys.txt  programs      version.pro
FAQ      UPGRADING  config.err  config.mak  contrib      filters   libs      settings.pro
root@mythtvhost:~/schedulesdirect/mythtv# qmake mythtv.pro
root@mythtvhost:~/schedulesdirect/mythtv#

I could not find a file called mythtv.pro in that directory. Did goober up the process by creating the schedulesdirect directory and dump the downloads in there?

Here is what I thought was problematic, but I suspect the qmake needs to be addressed first.

Code:
root@mythtvhost:~/schedulesdirect/mythtv# make
cd libs && make -f Makefile
make[1]: Entering directory `/root/schedulesdirect/mythtv/libs'
cd libavutil && make -f Makefile
make[2]: Entering directory `/root/schedulesdirect/mythtv/libs/libavutil'
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `first'.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/schedulesdirect/mythtv/libs/libavutil'
cd libavcodec && make -f Makefile
make[2]: Entering directory `/root/schedulesdirect/mythtv/libs/libavcodec'
gcc -c -pipe -march=i586 -w -O3 -Wall -Wno-switch -fomit-frame-pointer -D_REENTR                            ANT -DPIC -fPIC  -DMMX -Di386 -DUSING_FREEBOX -D_GNU_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=                            64 -DPREFIX=\"/usr\" -DLIBDIR=\"/usr/lib\" -DHAVE_AV_CONFIG_H -D_LARGEFILE_SOURC                            E -DHAVE_XVMC -DHAVE_XVMC_VLD -DQT_NO_DEBUG -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -DQT_SHARED -DQT                            _TABLET_SUPPORT -I/usr/share/qt3/mkspecs/default -I. -I.. -I../.. -I../libavutil                             -I/usr/include/qt3 -o h263.o h263.c
make[2]: *** wait: No child processes.  Stop.
make[2]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
make[2]: *** wait: No child processes.  Stop.
make[1]: *** [sub-libavcodec] Error 2
make: *** [sub-libs] Interrupt

If I can answer any questions to aid the diagnosis please let me know.

Hi All

Shedules Direct uses zap2it service. the only thing that's changed is that it is a payed service now, $15 for 6 months of service. You have to signup with shedules direct once registered it will give you a trail period to make sure it will work with your box.

I had been using R5F1 with the XMLTV and MythTV patches at the top of this thread for a few weeks. But I started seeing the following errors from mythfilldatabase about a week ago (as somebody else mentioned above):
Quote:
Authorization failed.
DataDirect, Error: UpdateProgramViewTable no dd_state!

The solution seemed to be to change my SchedulesDirect username (on the schedulesdirect.org website) to all lower-case letters (instead of my email address which contained an underscore and of course an @ character). After changing this, of course I had to update the username in MythTV Setup as well and re-select the desired lineups. After that, mythfilldatabase is working fine again. Just FYI in case anyone else has a similar issue.

I searched through this thread and didn't see anything related to this..

With my R5F1 installation I followed Cecil's initial instructions and have been getting SD listings since their initial roll-out without issue. However I would now like to upgrade to R5F27 as several of the Knoppmyth custom menus are gone. Is this possible or am I going to have to do a fresh install?

It would probably be easier just to restore the Knoppmyth menu. Someone described how to do it earlier in this thread (you need to search a little more).

"Auto Upgrade" to R5F27 is certainly a good alternative. You don't have to have everything working! Initially, I went the "R5F1" route, as R5F27 wasn't available at the time. I came across a different issue that was just plain easier to solve by going R5F27. In this case, getting the "latest & greatest" is a worthwhile benefit! :D

This is exactly the route I took, and should work fine.

Excellent! I have several recorded shows that I wanted to put onto DVD and since my Knoppmyth Archive is gone I really didn't want to do the clean install.
I was afraid I was updating to an SVN that somehow voided the "Auto Upgrade" procedure to future versions.
