The audio in the recordings from my PVR150 comes out with crackling. You can hear the audio, it just sounds bad and has a lot of pops and hiss. When I play back the recordings from the PVR150 on another system, the crackling noise is still there, so the issue is definitely in the recording, not the playback.

My PVR150 is connected to the RCA audio outs on my Motorola DCT6200. I've tried using a different cable and I end up with the same results. Adjustments to alsamixer levels don't seem to make a difference.

If you connect your DCT6200 to a receiver (or powered speakers or something), what does it sound like? Do you still get the crackling?

You may also want to check the audio recording volume (Settings->TV Settings->Recording Profiles, pick the one you record with and check on the 3rd or 4th screen)

Hooking the RCA audio outs on the DCT6200 to my receiver sounds crystal clear.

I checked the recording profiles and they were all set for 90% volume. I lowered it to 80%, but that still didn't fix it.

There is a known issue with some PVR150 cards and the newer versions of IVTV.

Check this link and do some other searches if that is not enough...

Thanks...just to be clear...do I need to invoke the whole delayed_settings script, or can I just add the following code to my current channel changing script?

Code:
/usr/local/bin/v4l2-ctl --set-audio-input 1 -d /dev/video0 >/dev/null

You can try adding the command to your channel changer script. If it solves the problem you don't need to use the hack.

On the other hand if the problem is caused by some setting MythTV is making _after_ tuning is "successful", you will need to do it.

I think I'm running into this as well, but it seems to be hit and miss. Probably 90% of the time my recordings are coming in clear and good, the other 10% they are quite bad. You can hear and understand the program, but it is quite annoying and I would consider it to be basically unwatcheable.

Have other people that have experienced this problem (and fixed it with this fix) noticed that it was a sometiems good sometimes bad situation, or was it 100% bad and i'm likely dealing with something else?

rando, it has always be hit-or-miss for me too.

Back when support for PVR-150 was new (so new that I had to manually add it into my KnoppMyth install), I never had the problem at all.

At some point I upgraded KnoppMyth, and started having the problem once in a while. I didn't even bother to look for a solution because, although it was annoying, it was so infrequent that I'd just delete the bad recording and let it re-record.

Now I have the latest version of KnoppMyth and, before I did the workaround, the problem happened about 4 out of 5 times.

I guess that's "progress."
