No, there is a technical reason. Before MythTV support this feature, It was a simply script I wrote to include with KnoppMyth. Sorry, I don't have the source handy. If you have the 1 disc, it should be /usr/local/bin/mpeg4cd.sh, or something like that...

Could it be a different name or in a different location? I still have a box running R5D1 that I haven't upgraded yet and I'm not seeing the script.

I did notice that on this box /mnt/cdrom is pointing to /mnt/auto/cdrom...

What did this old script do, and what caused it to run? Was it part of the "check for new videos" script?

I'm having the same issue loading avi's from a DVD.

I put my DVD in and Media Monitor picks it up and loads MythGallery. I can see my avi's on my DVD, however once I select a file to watch, the only thing that changes is the text on the screen disappears and I have my background picture. (Theme pic, not the tux on the couch) I can hit back/esc and it brings me back to my listing of avi's.

I thought it might be a corrupted file or some unrecognized character in the filename, so I copied an avi from the DVD and put it into the /myth/video folder, scanned it and played it. Worked flawless, so now I know it's not the file or the filename...

Any suggestions?

I suspect there may be spaces in the file name/s of your avis, and myth seems to have trouble playing these. The same problem is not exhibited when playing from disk.

Import the files to your disk and play them from there. The import feature is in the optical disk (CD/DVD) menu.

Yes, my filenames all have spaces and brackets [ ] in them. (Don't know if it cares about brackets or not)
I will rename them and re-burn them onto DVD again and see if that fixes it.

In the meantime, I've imported the files to the HDD.

Thanks!

[EDIT] Created a new DVD without spaces in the filenames and it works!!!
