My knoppmyth box says tonights episode of NCIS has already been previously recorded but all the schedules say its a new episode. Mythweb's guide data says the original air date is 1-15-08 (today) and the episode name is "tribe" the same name that all the guides say is tonite's new episode. So why does my mythbox say it's previously recorded?

The description and title are of the new episode. I did a mythfilldatabase --refresh-all, but nothing changed.
Is anyone else seeing this or is my database screwed up somehow?

What option do you have selected as the "Duplicate Check Method" for the recording rule in question?

I'm seeing the same thing. Program details say original airdate of 15 Jan 2007, but also shows previously recorded 18 Dec 2007.

I think it's because there was a mistake in the past with the guide, saying this episode was going to be on. I recognized the episode name and didn't realize this probably was a new one, but recall that the last time it was recorded, the description didn't match the show, which was a repeat...

These are my settings for that show:
check for duplicates in "only new episodes"
duplicate check method "subtitle and description"

I'm glad someone else is seeing the same thing. That would seem to indicate a scheduling problem. The only odd thing is that in the MythWeb interface on the upcoming recordings page, there is a "forget old" button available for previously recorded shows. Clicking it didn't make it forget this old recording, it had no effect on anything and the button was still available even after using it. I still had to manually force the recording to take place. Where as using the button an a Grey's Anatomy episode did reset the database and the "forget old" button disappeared.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am pretty sure it was a guide data problem. Back in December when it recorded I noticed when I watched it was a rerun that they actually aired and not "Tribes". So I just deleted it an set it to re-record.

Good catch on your part. Next time I catch a rerun recorded, I'll have to check it against the guide data and make sure to allow the re-record if they don't match!

I wish I did the same, I also noticed it back in December and just deleted it.
