Hi,

Just did a fresh install of R5F27, ran the irblaster script for my serial port connected irblaster and it doesn't work. I think the problem is with the serial port and not with the irblaster cable box and hardware configuration which is correct.

I've commented out the serial mouse in xorg.conf and it doesn't look like anything else using the serial port: lsof /dev/ttyS0 is empty.

Some info:

Code:
# /etc/irblaster/hardware.conf
#
#  Author: Greg Frost

# The COM Port used by the IRBlaster. Set it to COM1 COM2 or "".
IRBLASTER_SERIAL_PORT=COM1

Code:
dmesg | grep -i ttyS
serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
00:0c: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A

so it looks like the port is at least recognized.

Code:
dmesg | grep -i lirc*
lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61
lirc_i2c: chip found @ 0x18 (Hauppauge IR)
lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 10
lirc_serial: auto-detected active high receiver
lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 0

Should I expect to see lirc_serial using something in there?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Nick

What about "lsmod | grep lirc"

It looks like you have 2 IR Blasters, a seiral port and a Hauppauge (PVR-150?) It could be the two are getting confused?

I've got an irblaster from irblaster.info connected to the serial port for changing channels, and I've got an ir receiver connected to a pvr-250 for my remote.

The remote works great.

Code:
lsmod | grep lirc
lirc_serial            16128  0
lirc_i2c               12420  2
lirc_dev               16772  2 lirc_serial,lirc_i2c
i2c_core               20864  19 nvidia,lirc_i2c,i2c_ec,cx88_vp3054_i2c,cx88xx,tda1004x,dvb_bt8xx,bttv,ivtv,saa7115,msp3400,tuner,tea5767,tda8290,tuner_simple,mt20xx,i2c_algo_bit,i2c_i801,tveeprom

thanks,

Nick
