Hi All,
I want to make contact with anyone who has implemented KnoppMyth in Australia.
I have 2 areas of interest:
1. Setting up EPG info for Sydney.
2. Anyone done such a setup on a box which was retailed by Development One ( http://www.d1.com.au ). This system is now unsupported, so I am attempting to convert it from Mandrake 10 to KnoppMyth.
I'd like to hear from any Aussies and we can swap info.
Cheers
Mitchell

Hi Mitchell,
1. Me, and
2. Me.
Have a look at www.better-access.com for more information.

Mike,
Does your post indicate that you wish to offer consulting services to set up my HMC? I'm not sure I have the financials to engage a support organisation yet.
If not, can you provide me with the guidance for converting my D1 HMC?
I'd be very grateful for any assistance at this point.
Regards,
MD

I was not offering consulting services, but a site containing info on setting up your Knoppmyth box. I am assuming, of course, that your D1 box is a fairly normal HTPC. If it isn't, can you provide details?
Mike

It's definitely do-able. I've converted two D1 HMCs to run KnoppMyth, one is my own box that has a digital tuner card, the other was for a friend, and that one had the earlier analog card.
So far the latest version of KM I've been able to get going successfully on the D1 hardware (with digital tuner card) is R5A30.2 - I've been trying to get the latest version R5F27 to run, by so far without 100% success.
The EPG you want is either Shepherd http://svn.whuffy.com/ or OzTivo http://minnie.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view .
You may want to install KM onto a new or spare hard drive if you don't want to hose your current D1 setup though. And don't even think about converting your D1 HMC database of previously recorded shows over to KM unless you're up for a nice little challenge - I did it, but it's a very time consuming process!
I can provide the lircd.conf and lircrc files you'll need to get your D1 remote working with KM (these aren't included with KM because while the D1 remote is excellent for MythTV, as far as I can tell, it was designed especially for D1 and therefore is not commercially available.)

Thanks Ralph.
I hear what you are saying. Given that this is already a working myth box surely it is possible to achieve (with the help of knowledgeable people like yourselves )
I will post a config of my hardware a bit later (mine is a digital tuner card too).

In case you've got Foxtel - originally I was using the digital tuner card to record both Digital and Foxtel at the same time - this led to problems with the Digital program not being recorded very well though, so I added a separate external USB tuner exclusively for Foxtel, and now I can record both Digital and Foxtel at the same time without any problems.
(I've just updated my first post above a bit, too.)

Ralph,
OK. Now you're talking !!!
I suspect that the only difference between my D1 and yours may be HDD size and the tuner card.

Iluvatar2008 wrote: Ralph, I suspect that the only difference between my D1 and yours may be HDD size and the tuner card. Pretty much - you do have the same AVerMedia AVerTV DVB-T 771 tuner card. I've upgraded the unit's original 2.4GHz Celeron to a 2.4GHz P4 (only because I had one lying around spare) and have also put in some extra RAM.
Will you be wanting to record Foxtel (in which case you need the external 'IR Blaster' cable - the one that goes from the unit's serial port and has an IR LED at the other end, to change channels on the Foxtel STB)? If not, the installation of KnoppMyth R5A30.2 is simpler. But if so, I can supply instructions on how to get the IR blaster working. (As stated in previous post, don't try to record Foxtel and Digital at the same time though, if you're just using the one tuner card.)
If you're feeling adventurous you might like to jump straight in and install the latest R5F27, in which I think the IR blaster setup has been simplified... can't quite recall, as it was quite a while ago that I attempted that install. Anyway as long as you have a spare hard drive and plenty of time, it might be fun.

Ralph
I would like to start this off simply. I have Austar and have had little sucess recording quality content/signal from it. It may have to do with my RF/antenna reticulation setup. I'll leave it out of the equation for now.
Could we continue this offline, since others will no doubt become bored with the dialogue.
Of course I will share anything of note or worth anything with the Myth community.
My system is original "out of the box". (However there is an interesting story about D1 and my purchase I may share with you). I have kept my original distro discs as supplied by D1, so I don't feel the need to purchase a new HDD (yet).
My timing is a bit constrained due to some pressure of work, so I don't quite know when I will start this exercise (probably before the end of Feb).
BTW....I sent you a PM.
Thanks in Advance
MD
