I have just installed Knoppmyth 5B7 & have very low volume. I have set alsamixer volumes to the maximum & the myth volume is set at maximum, yet with my TV at full volume I can only just hear it.

Using the same hardware setup with 5a26 worked perfectly.

Is there anything I can do?

thanks

I have a PVR-350 in a PIII 1.2 with a SB 5.1. I'm using the mini plug out the back of the 350 and the volume is low. I'm a total Linux Newbie so I'm looking for ideas on how to troubleshoot. Once I get the TV-Out port up and running, perhaps the volume will be louder too??

IC now... need a loop back cable from the PVR card out to the line in on my sound card. volume is still low though. time to do some poking around.

Did you check your recording profiles? When I upgraded to R5B7 the recording volume was at 90%

That's been done on purpose according to what I've read. They're trying to avoid the distortion a lot of people expereience above 90-95%. I can testify that at 100% one of my PVR cards sounds pretty awful, lots of clipping artifacts and the like.

bump.

has anyone come up with a solution to this? I too had things working fine prior to upgrading to R5B7. Now the volume for tv recording playback is very low.

Im also having the same type of issue. Everything I watch through KnoppMyth is really quite and I have to almost max my TV's volume in order to hear anything, and that results in a loud constant humming in the background.

The audio is quite for everything, DVDs, Music CDs, MP3s and ISO movies. Has anyone found a fix for this issue? Im using the onboard audio card, could this be causing the problem? What audio card should I try before I give up and go back to Windows Media Center (my last resort).

Run aumix and make sure all relevant volumes are up. I've not noticed any difference in R5B7.

There are 3-4 different volume controls and they're cummulative. Off the top of my head (and I'm probably missing at least one).

- Recording volume in the recording profile
- PCM(?) output volume for playback
- Master output volume

So if all of those are at 80% you end up with ~50% of the real maximum. I keep recording volume at 90-95% to avoid excessive clipping, PCM at ~80%, and master at 100%, giving about 80% of the real maximum with decent quality.
