I had a motherboard failure on my main R5F27 system while running
many test installs of R5.5 on a spare hard drive I put in the system.

I put the hardware and R5F27 hard drives into my desktop PC and wonder
of wonders it all came up and worked (after tweaking the new NIC MAC
address into the udev rules for eth0 and running alsamixer to setup the
sound card).

The one thing that appears to be wrong is that mythfrontend doesn't
start by itself. It doesn't seem to run at all. KnoppMyth-run.log
says it started it when I 'pkill xinit' though.

X comes up. If I start an xterm and run mythfrontend, everything
seems to be fine.

I was tracking down what seemed to be that R5F27 would install on this
hardware, but R5.5 would not. Lockups or strange ?BIOS? messages
before it even got to LILO; like the boot loader was bad.

EDIT: I got my repaired motherboard (ASUS 3 year warranty)
back and found that the same issue was happening with it.
I finally tracked it down in the logs. There was a file that it
was trying to overwrite, but it did not have proper permission
to do so. I am pretty sure that the file was /tmp/videosource.txt
