Hello,

Is there a way to save the frontend configuration to use with the bootCD? I have several frontends in my house all pointing to the same backend. Now that I have upgraded to R5.5 on my backend I have to go and revisit all of my frontend computers. Since all they do is the frontend, I would really like to just boot off the CD, but I don't want to have to go through the configuration each time.

This seems like something anyone with Myth would like, but I haven't been able to find anything anywhere. I'm not looking to implement the full diskless setup, with boot roms, etc.

Maybe I'll see if there is a Myth add-on package for puppy linux.

Your might want to netboot your frontends. I believe this is scripted in R5.5 to make it very easy to setup. However, I have not tired it.

EDIT: Oops... I missed your last line where you are not looking for diskless operation (although this sounds like a good fit for what you want... you can always make a boot CD instead of using the network card PXE boot). You might want to take a look at MiniMyth. I also believe that Mythbuntu has a live CD frontend.

If you are configuring custom screen resolutions and remotes, then you will have to install on these frontend machines, and no, it can't be automated yet.

If these were just PCs that you occasionally used as frontends, there is always the KnoppMyth install CD. Just boot from the CD, choose Frontend, and go with the defaults. Using DHCP, they get an IP address, and by the magic of UPnP, they will find the backend.
