In the thread, Encoder Status LEDs for KnoppMyth, Cecil mentions that he added the scripts to enable a com port for status leds. Cool idea I think

However when I went to activate it in R5.5, there were a couple of failures:
In the script, /etc/init.d/recstat

this was missing:
#! /bin/sh

set -e

PATH
and the file opens as exit OTH

Also the python serial module was missing. however it is easy to add.by following the python link and pull the file.
Download the pyserial-2.4.tar.gz
gunzip pyserial-2.4.tar.gz
then tar -xvf pyserial-2.4.tar
cd into folder and run # python setup.py install
/etc/init.d/recstat start should work without error

Just in case I also tried it on my F27 and it had the same issues. I had not noticed if this was mentioned previously .but if so, mentioned twice is better than not at all.
