Ok i know that some people (ie issac and others) dont want users to be able to donate, for honorable reasons im sure. But just like at a resteraunt i do believe in tiping for good service.. AND WOW you guys have done a VERY good service How do you guys feel about setting up a paypal link to allow users of knoppmyth to say thanks in a tangable way? It would also give the users like me, who arnt barely newborn linux users a way to contribute until i get enough knowledge to help more in the forums. Just a thought??

Already set up. I noticed the "Make a Donation" button on the bottom of the KnoppMyth page on this site some time ago. Try it out.

But I think this is just for KnoppMyth developers. i.e. Cecil and Dale

I too had missed the "donate" button on that page for whatever reason. Thanks for pointing it out: I have just anted up.

Although I've had snags here and there (and have posted to the forums here only to find the answers were usually there all along), Knoppmyth has allowed me to make incredible progress with my DIY DVR--I've got xine working on it now and have even managed to set up my XF86Config file to work with my HDTV, since Knoppmyth did most of the initial setup work for me.

Thanks to everyone who is contributing their time to this project. I for one really do appreciate it.

Can you please post a how-to on how you got it working with your HDTV?

I basically followed Jarod Wilson's HD guide, but I can post some additional minor details if you think it would be helpful.

I'm using the Audio Authority 9A60 VGA->component converter. I have a three-year-old Toshiba (42H81) that only has component inputs, so DVI isn't an option for me.

Unfortunately, since my TV is three years old, my max resolution is 540p... really not all that much different than 480p. (The TV can do 1080i, but my understanding is that the nVidia drivers can't do interlaced yet under Linux).

So, regular TV looks about the same as regular TV with the set's tuner... not all that hot.

DVD looked surprisingly good, but I'm not sure it's significantly better than the 480p I'm getting via my Panasonic DVD player and its component connection. Haven't had a chance to A-B any discs yet.

Just wanted to mention three things:

1. I did finally write up a howto of sorts on getting HDTV display going, and put it up on the wiki.

http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/inde ... SetupHowTo

2. I finally tried out my nForce2 motherboard's TV-out. NO comparison to how it looks with the VGA->component transcoder. The TV-out looks sickly in comparison. Worth the $120.

3. I'd forgotten that this discussion was in this Donate thread, which is good because I get to remind people that the Knoppmyth team (of which I'm not a member, just a happy customer) DOES accept PayPal donations! If you're using Knoppmyth and haven't kicked in some cash, just remember that you're saving AT LEAST $12/month that you're not paying to TiVo!

Hi Guys

I have downloaded the firefox installer, and got it running from an internet option on the main menu !!! Well pleased !!!!

The only trouble is, is that it doesn't run full screen. FYI my resolution is set to 640 x 480 so I can see things well, I am displaying to tv.....

Can anyone offer any assistance ????
