0.16 is a lot more stable for me with DVB than 0.15 is. Things work a little better like channel changes

Thanks for that feedback as I am having problems with my visionplus DVB card. I have configured my drivers as per these instructions, but have been unable to get the card to scan using the linuxtv-DVB-apps. The error recieved is
main:1882 FATAL: failed to open /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 : 16 device or resource busy.
Now heck, I had it working in r4v4 before upgrading to 4v5, and DMESG tells me that the visionplus is detected, and dst recognises the card properly. I tried the honourable apt-get update, and am wondering what to try next. ?

is the backend running while u are trying to use the scan? If it is you will get the error since the backend has control over it. killall mythbackend and try it and see how you go

Just a friendly post hoping that DVB card support will be included in the next version of KnoppMyth My adventures with getting a VisionPlus 1020 & a Nexus-S working with KnoppMyth have resulted in failure. Keep up the good work This would be very cool software to make a FTA satellite reciever.

I believe that cesman put out a request for any drivers to put in the kernel quite a while back, and I know he has added many that will make it into R5. However even if it can't make it in R5 you could still drop cesman an email and maybe it can make it into a future version.

I have a dvico FusionHDTV card that I am trying to get working using Chris Pascoe's Linux Driver http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~chrisp/DVICO-Linux/. I used kernel 2.6.8.1 and his tarball and everyting compiled and installed fine.
I used scan to get the channels.conf file (I looked up the in the adelaide foothills frequencies for the various channels on the www.dba.org.au). The card found the channels fine so I thought beauty, its working.
My problem is that when I use tzap to select the channel and then dvbstream and mplayer to view the channel, the only channel that is not scrambled is "TEN digital"
Quote: tzap "TEN Digital" dvbstream -o -ps -qam 64 -cr 3_4 512 650 | mplayer -
works, but Quote: tzap "NINE Digital" dvbstream -o -ps -qam 64 -cr 3_4 512 650 | mplayer -
doesnt, . I get the audio and mplayer attempts to display the video but the video is all smeared in diagonal lines.
Another thing to note is if I leave dvbstream running after tuning to "TEN Digital" and then use tzap to change to "NINE Digital", It displays the channel nine picture fine (although loses the audio).
Has anyone has any similar problems? It seems to me as if mplayer is not initialising itself properly when receiving the NINE Digital stream.
If I then use tzap to switch back to "TEN Digital", the picture has colour problems and some diagonal colour bands??
I read somewhere that if you cant get your dvb card working with the simple applications, it wont work with mythtv, so I would really like to resolve these problems before taking the next step of trying to use the card in mythtv.

Found the problem with the DVICO card. The card was working fine. I downloaded the source for mplayer and built it on my system and the problem went away. Not sure why.

Hello there guys,
great work on the new release, I will fire it up tonight.
Just a question on DVB cards, does the latest version of knoppmyth help with digital cards and the tunning difficulties or do we still need to follow Nigel's great write-up..
Just dreaming of a time that knoppmyth will automatically accept my visionplus card.
thanks again.

the visionplus card is ready to go with the new release. i just did an auto-upgrade and added dst to my modules list and it worked no worries at all for me. just make sure mythbackend is not running when mythtv-setup is running since it wont find the cards.
for me the easiest way seemed to be was install the new version, delete the channels and the visionplus card. then install the card again, scan with the frequencies u find at dba.org.au and you are away.
i found to get ac-3 working i added the audio device as ALSA:spdif and ticked bypass ac3 to amp and uncheck the mixer settings and bang it all works.
i have found it runs so much better the the new kernel since its all intergrated and u are not loading external modules. My wifi card now runs a treat at full speed as well.
any ideas where i can make a donation to this project?
