I'm using the latestest Alpha.
I've gotten dvds to play by editing down the options in the dvd player setup screen.

I'm not sure what to do about the ripping. it acts like it's working then dies about 3/4ths the way through...

As far as recording live tv, it hangs the system if I hit the 'r' button.

if someone could look at my hardware specs below and verify that I should be able to watch and record or even record for that matter I'd appreciate it.

thanks in advance, I'll post more details when I get home and work on it this evening....

jb

Freezing when you try to record from live TV is a MythTV 0.16 bug. Are you sure you have the latest (KnoppMyth R5A12 with MythTV 0.17)?

Yep, R5A12! for the first time, the system WILL (as of tonight) record from the scheduler....

Oh, and does anyone know where I would make sure the system is doing 24 bit color, and not 16?

thanks in advance

Check your /var/log/XFree86.0.log, search for "Depth":
Code:
grep Depth /var/log/XFree86.0.log
