I have no I idea what happened... box has been stable for over a month. Today I fired it up and found that all my captured shows were gone! After a bit of poking around, I figured out that the mysql didn't start up at boot time. I don't think the backend did either.

I did a:

/etc/init.d/mysql start
/etc/init.d/mythbackend start

then I reloaded the frontend and everything is fine. How can I fix this?

Did you check the boot logs? Could be mysqld failed for some reason, and mythbackend probably dumps if it can't get to mysql.

After reading this post, I did:

$ touch /home/mythtv/.newcard
$ touch /home/mythtv/.configure
$ shutdown -r now

Upon the reboot, everything was fine... I cannot explain it, but it's working now
