Alsa! it is fixed. stop the backend , change the cache directory from cache to cache/cache. restarted the backend, and it worked. Problem sovled .

Now I can move on to sound. This is probably a different post but ever since I upgraded , I can't get sound to work. There is no bar for master and pcm in the alsamixer and , using amixer to umute and turn up the volume doesn't effect the mixer at all.
