Using R5A15.1 mythtv 0.18, while a program was being recording, I used Setup to change the Playback commercial skip settings from "Notify but do not skip" to "Automatically skip commercials". Later, when I went to "Media Library", I get the dreaded "Sorry, no recordings available" when I have 120GB (~60 hours) of programs recorded.

I change the commercial skip setting back, and this didn't help. I went to Upcoming Recordings and cancelled and stopped the recording in progress. Checking "Watch Recordings" under "Media Library" again, it still shows no programs.

Next, I rebooted. Still no programming shown, so I check the MySQL database using the instructions in topic 1043 on this forum. No database errors are reported. All recorded shows are also listed fine in myth/pretty.

So next, I run MythWeb and luckily it still shows all recorded programs, but it shows the program I just cancelled as "Currently Recording" (and unable to delete it when in this state). And of course I still can't view any programs via Media Library on the box itself.

So next step is I run WebMin and try to sort out the mythconverg database to poke around and understand why it thinks this show is still recording (I assumed this latest recording might have something to do with the problem). I see that the show is listed in the "recorded" and "recordedprogram" tables. I notice that "commflagged=0" for this one, which is about the only distinguishing feature from the others.

Even though nothing was actually being recorded, I waited until 4am when the recording was originally supposed to end, and then I could delete it via MythWeb. It didn't help though. On the TV, when I select "Watch Recordings" under "Media Library", it still says "Sorry, no recordings available", but via MythWeb all shows are listed fine.

Any suggestions??? (If you don't hear back, it means my wife has already killed me!)

Even though I could not find any database problems, I did find an "error connecting to database" listed in mythbackend.log when this last show started recording, and a "KickDataBase" which doesn't sound so good.

As for why the shows were not being listed, I found that the "Default program group to view" on one of the screens under Setup, TV Settings, Playback, had somehow been changed to --blank-- instead of to All Programs or a valid program group. Maybe it was a fat finger or maybe it has something to do with the database connection error; I dunno.

Now, of course, "dd" is backing up my hard disk before I mess with anything else...
