Hi, I've been able to get knoppmyth installed, set up, working.

But..
every time I boot up, after the gui starts a window pops up asking for the root password and apears to reinstall myth and then take me back through the configuration process. This deletes all my settings and makes me go through them again.

I've already gone completely through it twice but it's always there. If I just close the window or ignore it and run mythfrontend manually everything works right.

How can I make this go away and have it start the front end each time?

It doesn't delete any seeting unless you tell it to. You can simply esacpe out of it... Did you complete all the steps before?

The first time around I was having trouble with the mythfilldatabase program running forever and not stopping. Hit ctrl+c

Second time around I got completely through and everything was working. Did a reboot after updating my capture card drivers to fix a small problem and again it prompted me for the root password and took me through the configuration. in mythtv-setup I specificaly selected no to delete my card settings and to my channel settings but found that they were gone anyway. I set it all up again and it works but it still asks for that root password on every boot.

I also have had to start the backend manualy.

Now I don't plan on rebooting much so I can use it like this, but it'd be nice to have everything a bit more streamlined.

As the user mythtv.
Code:
rm -fr ~/.configure ~/.newcard ~/.upgrade
Streamlined in what manner?
