So I set up my mythtv correctly, everything was working beautifully. The program guide was synched fine, and recorded several shows on time. I left the computer on overnight and this morning I checked it and the program guide was 5 hours ahead. This is without me using the computer or changing anything, and it was working as of 11:30 the night before. I checked the program guide for the day before and it was correct, and at midnight it changed to its 5-hour ahead thing. So next I tried clearing the program guide data by running mythtv-setup and re-downloading the guide using mythfilldatabase, but it remained the same. Any ideas on what went wrong or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Time zone? Maybe your guide data profile is set for the wrong zone? Or your system clock is off? What does Linux report your time as? From a command prompt, enter: date
It should reflect the local time, and time zone.

On new years, mine rolled to something odd like 2002. Not sure if that was hardware, NTP, or what. But I first noticed it when all of the guide data was missing!

I PM'ed when the forums started to flake out. Not sure if it got through...

Detailed recipe for fixing this: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8006

Also do the following: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4503
Please, please, please, pick a range of times that IS NOT between Midnight and 3AM. Say like 8AM to 5 PM, Noon to 7PM, 8PM to 11PM, ...

When I tried the hwclock command i got an error message:
Select() to /dev/rtc for clock tick timed out.

** Response to first and second reply ** I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the time is correct and the time zone is "UTC", which was the only way previously that I could get the program guide to work correctly. Before I had tried EST, the actual time zone, and the program guide was off by several hours, so I changed to UTC to synchronize them and it worked fine
