I have a 350 which I'm sure you know has a hardware MPEG1/2 encoder onboard. I was wondering if there is any way to enable this feature to record live tv right to mpg, skipping the nvu files or whatever they're called. I was also wondering if there is any plan to create an add-on for mythtv that would allow recorded programs to be burned to cd/dvd for backup.

With a 350, the video is "straight MPEG", it just has a extension for .nuv.

also there are some command line scripts to burn to dvd, I am sure that someone is looking at working those into a module for mythtv, but I haven't heard any status on such work.
